Office of the City Architect (OCA)
"A frontliner in the delivery of Architectural services"
History and Development
The City Architect's Department was originally established in the early 1990s and initially comprised only six (6) employees. Arch. Efren Bandong served as the inaugural City Architect, succeeded by Arch. Feliciano Valencia. However, during Arch. Valencia's tenure, the department faced dissolution due to a shortage of staff, leading to the absorption of its employees by the City Engineering Department.
In 2020, the re-establishment of the City Architect's Office occurred through Resolution No. 20-124, titled "A Resolution Extending Concurrence to the Appointment of Arch. Quirino F. Delos Santos as City Government Department Head I (City Architect), this city." This marked the end of years of amalgamation with the Engineering department. Through the dedicated efforts of City Architect Delos Santos and the unwavering support of City Mayor Mario O. Salvador, the department successfully constructed its independent office in 2021, now recognized as the City Architect Office.
